World Rehabilitation Alliance Meeting 


WFOT was represented at the recent meeting of the World Rehabilitation Alliance (WRA) in Geneva, Switzerland by WFOT President Samantha Shann and WFOT Executive Director Ritchard Ledgerd. The WRA is a network of organisations devoted to advocacy for improved access to rehabilitation.

World Health Organization (WHO)

Packages of Rehabilitation Interventions


As part of efforts to strengthen access to rehabilitation services, WHO released a series of Packages of Rehabilitation Interventions. The Packages outline evidence-based guidelines for interventions provided by occupational therapists and other rehabilitation professionals for 20 health conditions that have high prevalence and associated disability.

WFOT nominated occupational therapists that volunteered their time and expertise for the development of the WHO Packages of Rehabilitation Interventions. Many thanks to the over 35 WFOT representatives for providing a strong occupational therapy contribution to the development of the Packages of Rehabilitation Interventions.

 

WFOT Congress Scientific
Programme Committee

To fill vacancies on the WFOT Congress Scientific Programme Committee, WFOT is seeking two volunteer occupational therapists, one from each the Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean regions (as defined at https://www.who.int/countries/ ). The successful applicants will assist with planning the scientific programme of the 2026 Congress planned for Bangkok, Thailand.

World Occupational Therapy Day 

October 27, 2023


Start planning soon for World Occupational Therapy Day 2023 that will be held October 27, 2023.

The theme for this year is “Unity through Community”, promoting our role in working together with others to facilitate participation and community interaction. The World Occupational Therapy Day theme and logo is available in multiple languages on the WFOT website.
 
 

 

WFOT Learning - 

New Resettling Climage Migrants Online Resources


WFOT launched a new online module that introduces challenges faced when working with people who have been displaced by climate change. Also available on the WFOT Learning Platform are three related microlearning courses:
  • Client Migrants: Creating a welcome pack
  • Client Migrants: Assessing needs
  • Client Migrants: Developing a client profile
Access to resources on the WFOT Learning Platform are free (donations are strongly encouraged).
